La Tasha Fields is a passionate advocate for educational equity, leveraging education to empower and uplift others. She holds a degree in education from Marquette University, a master's in curriculum and instruction from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and a master's in reading from Concordia University Wisconsin. Currently, she is pursuing a doctoral degree in educational leadership focusing on innovation and continuous improvement.
With over two decades of experience, Fields has excelled as an early childhood literacy consultant, K–12 classroom teacher, district leader, and statewide educator. Her current role as reading program director and adult basic education reading instructor at Madison Area Technical College reflects her commitment to advancing literacy. Field's leadership journey includes over ten years as president and co-president of the Milwaukee Area Reading Council. In 2016, she became the first Black vice president of the Wisconsin State Reading Association, and served as president in 2020. Her contributions include serving on the Madison Reading Project Board and the Stritch Family Literacy Board. In addition, she worked as a literacy consultant for the Milwaukee Public Library and as a literacy specialist for the Nehemiah Project. Residing in Wisconsin with her husband, Fields continues to inspire and lead in the field of education.
