What is the new ILA member portal?

Your portal is where you can manage your membership—renew or add subscriptions, update contact info and preferences, set up automatic payments, and view your membership card and certificate.
How do I sign in?
If you haven’t signed in since July 8, 2025, you will need to reset your password.

Via the ILA website:
- Go to https://www.literacyworldwide.org/
- Click “Sign In” at the top of the page
- Hover over “Membership” in the navigation, then click “My Account & Profile”
Directly through the portal:
- Go to https://ila.users.membersuite.com/home
- Sign in using your ILA username and password
How do I update my profile?

Your profile contains your contact information, communication preferences, and other details that help us understand our members’ interests. Sign in to your portal, click your name (top right), then click “My Profile.” Use the blue pencil icon under “My Info” to make changes.

What types of membership are available?

Standard, student/retired, and free memberships for developing economies. Check the membership types page for more information on each.
How do I join?

Sign in to your portal, click your name (top right), then click “Individual Membership” and complete checkout. Need help? Call 800.336.7323 (U.S./Canada), 302.731.1600 (international), or email customerservice@reading.org.
How do I join a chapter?

Please join your state/provincial or local chapter directly. Check the chapters page for more information.
How do I join a Special Interest Group?

You can join any of our Special Interest Groups online when you join or renew by calling 800.336.7323 (U.S./Canada) or 302.731.1600 (international), or emailing customerservice@reading.org. Check the affiliates page for more information.
How do I become an Alpha Upsilon Alpha (AUA) member?

You can become an AUA member by applying to or being nominated by the screening committee of an Alpha Upsilon Alpha chapter. Check the honor society page for more information.
When does my membership start and how long does it last?

Your membership begins once payment is processed and is good for one year. Discounts are available for multi-year renewals. You can also enable automatic payments in your profile to make renewals easy. Please note that memberships are not transferable.
How do I check my membership status or number?

Sign in to your portal, click your name (top right), then click “My Profile.” Click on the “Membership” tab and expand the “International Literacy Association” link to review a summary of your information and status. Scroll to the “Download My Membership Card” for your member number.
How do I renew?

Sign in to your portal, click your name (top right), then click “My Profile.” Click on the “Membership” tab and then click on the “Renew” link to complete checkout.
How do I set up automatic payments and renewals?

Sign in to your portal, click your name (top right), then click “My Profile.” Click on the “My Account” tab and add a saved payment. Then click on the “Membership” tab and expand the “International Literacy Association” link to opt in. Need help? How can I cancel my membership?

How do I read Literacy Today?

Go to the Literacy Today page, sign in to your ILA account at the top of the screen, then scroll down to the “Read Now” link. You can also browse past issues on this page.

How can I contribute to Literacy Today?

What is ILA Learning?

Our dedicated space for webinars and other learning opportunities. Through this platform, you can access resources that support your practice, track your progress, and earn certificates of completion.
How do I sign in?

How do I register for webinars?

Click the blue “Purchase” button on the webinar page, sign into your ILA account, and complete the registration process. Once you’re done, please be sure to click the “ILA Learning” link in the top navigation to sync your registration and ensure you receive the access details.
Are recordings available?

Yes. You’ll get access to the recording and a certificate (available after you attend or view the entire webinar), even if you registered after the live event. Find them in your ILA Learning account profile by hovering over your name and clicking “My Profile,” then click the “My Activity” tab.
How do I download a certificate, receipts, and other materials?

Sign in to your ILA Learning account, hover over your name and click “My Profile.” On your profile page, choose a tab based on what you need (“Certificates,” “My Activity,” or “Purchases”). If you need a receipt from a webinar or purchase prior to July 8, 2025, please call 800.336.7323 (U.S./Canada) or 302.731.1600 (international), or email customerservice@reading.org for assistance.

How do I read my journals?

Go to the journals page, sign in to your ILA account at the top of the screen, then scroll down to the “Read My Journal” link for each of your subscriptions (Reading Research Quarterly Library subscribers can access back issues via the “Access Archive” link). You will be redirected to the ILA Hub, published by Wiley, where you can access your journals.

Need help? Follow these step-by-step instructions.
How often are journals published?

ILA’s journals follow a continuous publishing model, which means you can read articles as soon as they are released online in addition to when issues are officially published.
How do I subscribe?

You can subscribe to ILA journals or purchase Access ILA (a bundle of all three journals plus an archive of Reading Research Quarterly dating back to 1965). To subscribe, create an account or sign in to your portal, click the “Online Store” navigation link, then “Subscriptions,” and then “Subscribe to a Publication.” Select your journal and complete the online checkout process. Members get the best rates; if you’re not a member, consider becoming one before you subscribe.
How do I change my subscription?

Sign in to your portal, then click on the "Online Store" tab and select "Subscriptions.” If you’re renewing your membership, you can also update your journal selections during checkout. What is Access ILA?

A subscription bundle including the Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy, Reading Research Quarterly, The Reading Teacher, and the Reading Research Quarterly archive dating back to 1965. If you are purchasing Access ILA online, you do not need to add each individual journal to your shopping cart, as they will automatically be included in the Access ILA bundle.

How do I apply my member discount?

Make sure you’re signed into your membership account to see your special member rates on resources, publications, and event registrations.
How do I place a bulk order?

Please call 800.336.7323 (U.S./Canada), or 302.731.1600 (international), or email customerservice@reading.org. Discounts are available for schools or organizations.
What’s your book return and refund policy?
PDF purchases are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged. Sale books (specially priced) are not returnable and cannot be exchanged. All other book returns must adhere to the following policy:
- Individuals may return books within 30 days of the order date and bookstores and institutions may return books within 6 months.
- Returned books must be in resalable condition (no damage, tearing, worn edges, writing, stamps, stickers, or other markings or alterations).

How do I ensure I get emails from ILA?

Add customerservice@reading.org and announcements@reading.org to your safe senders list and your organization’s whitelist.
