Sue Corbin

Sue Corbin is a professor and the chair of the Division of Professional Education at Notre Dame College in Ohio.

An ILA member for more than 30 years, Sue has attended and presented sessions for many conferences, including several annual, one international, and a number of ILA-affiliated state conferences. She has served as a board member and chair of the Children’s Literature and Reading Special Interest Group and has been a member of the editorial board of the group’s journal, The Dragon Lode. She has also served as a member and chair of the group’s committee on Notable Books for a Global Society. In addition, she has published in the Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy and the Ohio Reading Teacher.

Most of Sue’s adult life has been dedicated to the literacy profession. Her work has covered most grade levels as a pre-K–grade 6 literacy specialist, a middle school reading teacher, an adult education reading tutor, and a professor of literacy at the undergraduate and graduate levels at four higher education institutions. She has written literacy curricula for elementary and middle schools and she founded a summer literacy clinic for struggling readers. She has taught professional and personal development in reading to community and education groups, and recently led a Reading Endorsement program at her college in earning ILA National Recognition.
