ILA Network Connection

Welcome to the ILA Network Connection!

ILA’s e-newsletter is designed to provide the most updated network news as well as a mechanism for connecting literacy leaders from around the globe. In this newsletter, you will find information on upcoming events, possible leadership opportunities, ILA programs, and association articles. We hope that this newsletter will provide a vivid look inside ILA’s network.

INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE

“Freedom is not a state; it is an act. It is not some enchanted garden perched high on a distant plateau where we can finally sit down and rest. Freedom is the continuous action we all must take, and each generation must do its part to create an even more fair, more just society.”
—U.S. Representative John Lewis

ILA's 30 Under 30: See Who Made the List

A new year always brings with it so much promise, and although this year may feel a bit different, it’s hard not to focus on the positive when we highlight the bright future ahead of us thanks to the work of this year’s class of ILA 30 Under 30 honorees, emerging literacy leaders who are working to create positive change in the global literacy landscape. Learn more about our honorees and their work in the latest issue of Literacy Today (no login required!). Did we miss someone? Nominations are open year round.

Instructional Practices

ILA is excited to announce a new resource that is exclusive to ILA members. Curated by ILA's Literacy Research Panel, the Instructional Practices collection offers a framework of effective literacy practices. These short, easy-to-implement practices are grounded in research and will be a valuable addition to your teaching strategies and techniques.

Each week, ILA will release one new practice that will fall into one of these four categories:

  • Families and Communities
  • Literacy Teaching and Teachers
  • Schools and Schooling
  • Student Learning

#ILAReads

In this series, ILA has highlighted authors or illustrators reading and sharing from their children’s books and young adult literature on our YouTube channel.
